Folding Card
Table Information
A truly top quality folding card table is
hard to find these days. It’s so disheartening. Over the years,
I’ve bought just about every darn fold up card table available.
Well, not all obviously, but I do have a lot of tables in my
store and also in my home garage. I run a hobby store where I
sell comics, action figures and trading cards. I organize
trading card competitions regularly so folding card tables are
a must.
Anyway, I just finished organizing a MTG (Magic the
Gathering) card competition. Lots of free time at the moment,
so I thought I should lend you a hand in finding the right
folding table for whatever needs you may have be it, for card
games, jigsaw puzzles, crafting, or a spare table for dinner.
So make sure you check out the following tables.
Best Square
Folding Card Table - Walnut/ Black (36 By 36
Square)
If you want a long-lasting square-shaped folding card table,
then get this one. Problems often associated with low quality
folding tables e.g. unstable, legs that bent easily, poor
overall construction, etc are virtually non-existent with this
particular table. Honestly, this table is EXTREMELY sturdy.
One user proclaims that the table “is built like a tank” and
I second that. The build is super solid, no two ways about it.
Heck, you can even place a 29-inch CRT television on top and
the table will take the weight like nobody’s business. No
shaking or anything like that. Steady as a rock.
I tell ya, a foldable card table usually won’t be able to
hold that sort of weight. It’s timbeeeer as soon as you put the
TV down so sturdiness-wise; you have nothing to worry about. As
you can see from the picture above, the legs and apron are
black in color and made of steel. They are not cheaply
connected so the legs always stay strong and stable, plus the
security lock ensures the table remain firmly open.
Now, when it comes to assembling the fold up card table,
well guess what? This table requires no assembling at all. Just
fold and unfold that’s it! When you fold the table, the size is
only about 4" high so this means you can store it just about
anywhere. Unfold it and the open height is around 30". The
table is also very easy on the eyes thanks to its stylish
design and gorgeous finish of walnut and black.
Okay, now that I’ve done blabbing about the positives of
this folding card table, let me tell you about the negatives.
First, the weight of the table which I think is pretty heavy.
Like I said earlier, I have a lot of folding tables in my
possession and most of them are in the 15 to 25 pounds range.
But this baby right here weighs roughly 70 pounds. That’s
almost half my total bodyweight!
I’m not a big guy by the way, 5, 10 and 170 pounds so
whenever I need to bring out this table for trading card
tournaments and whatnot, my business partner (we run the hobby
store together) would have to give me a hand. Darn I’m weak
lol! Sure hitting the gym would help, but 70 pounds is pretty
heavy for a foldable card table even if it is sturdy and
all.
The second blot would be the cost of the table. The
price is almost 200 dollars! Sure, the quality is top
class and would last for many, many years as long as you keep
it out of the elements like rain and such, but still, the price
is on the high side. I paid 185 dollars for each table and I
bought two.
We use the tables only for the last four competitors in our
card game tournaments. They are sort of like the special table
for the semi-finalists. Anyway, if the company brings the price
down to say 160 dollars that would be fantastic. A
minor complaint really considering the overall quality but it’s
still a blot in my book!
Folding Card
Table and Chairs Set
So here’s an image of Cosco’s 5 piece set folding card table
with chairs. As pictured, there are 4 chairs in total and
although the chairs are constructed of durable steel frame, the
back as well as the seat is padded with nice looking fabric.
Makes the chair look nice and provides comfort but truth be
told, I would’ve preferred if the entire chair was full-blown
100% steel with no padded fabric at all.
Remember, I use folding card table sets mostly for trading
card competitions so naturally, the padding gets dirty after a
while. After all, we get quite a lot of card game addicts
joining the tournament. Needless to say it’s a bit of a hassle
to clean the padding as opposed to full metal seat and backrest
which can easily be wiped clean.
As far as durability is concerned, well this folding card
table and chairs set is decent enough in that department. The
table is quite sturdy. So far, no stability issue
whatsoever.
A couple weeks ago I used this table to play Warhammer
card game with 3 other guys. We were having so much fun and the
table took a lot of abuse particularly from “Crazy” Matt. The
guys get overexcited sometimes, slapping the table, shaking it
all over. You know, at the time I though the table was going to
get wrecked but it took the beatings and whatnot pretty
well.
Look to be honest, I’m not sure if the folding card table
with chairs you see here are going to last for say 10 years. I
don’t know. I suppose they might last that long or perhaps
longer if you take really good care of them. See, I purchased
the set almost 3 years ago and it’s been alright so far except
two of the chairs are a bit bent now.
The set is pretty cheap however. It’s less than 115 dollars
so definitely worth the price. The tables and chairs can be
folded with ease and the legs have rubber tips!
Scuff floors is always a problem when you’re holding a
trading card game competition. Folks like to move about,
contestants adjusting the position of their chairs, and what
all so these often lead to scruff floors. But if the folding
card table and chairs are equipped with rubber tips, you won’t
have that kind of problem.
Samsonite Card
Table
I have a couple of Samsonite card tables at my place. The
first table came as a set together with 5 pieces of folding
chairs. A friend borrowed the table then went up and
disappeared. I thought I would never see that table again so I
bought a new one, without the chairs of course. After a while
he showed up to return the table.
Apparently, the guy moved to another state to be close to
his ailing mother and didn’t bother to notify us. Some friend!
Ah, well, all is forgiven actually. No harm done.
Okay, moving on to the Samsonite folding card table pictured
above. This table weighs approximately 20 pounds so it’s much
easier to carry around compared to the walnut/black
square-shaped card table I reviewed earlier. Here’s a picture
in case you’re too lazy to scroll up.

Of course, the above is a lot sturdier than the Samsonite
folding card table which is to be expected since the price is
much higher. However, the Samsonite card table is no slouch in
the sturdiness department either. It’s pretty stable all around
with very reliable leg locks. The legs fold individually and
the locks keep them in place so that the table doesn’t collapse
while in use.
You know, some poorly made folding tables have these weak
leg locks. They are horrific I tell ya. The tables are prone to
collapsing because the legs are not properly stabilized by the
cheap, crappy locks. You won’t be having such problem with the
Samsonite card table though. The leg locks are pretty
tough.
It’s hard to fault this table really. It has a decent
construction; it’s decently priced, easy to handle, easy to
fold and store plus the size is just right. The measurement is
34 x 34 and if I’m not mistaken, shipping is free of
charge.
I purchased this Samsonite folding card table from
Amazon.com (bought almost all my folding tables from them by
the way) and they usually have free shipping for orders above
25 bucks, selected items of course.
I remember the tables were delivered to my house for free.
The offer is still around I think, perhaps it would best to
leave a link right below. You can have a look yourself if the
free delivery offer still remains.
Round Folding
Card Tables
What you’re seeing here is one of the toughest round folding
card tables on the market. According to the product
description, the table is able to hold “up to 300 pounds”.
One of my geeky card buddies, Crazy Matt decided to put this
claim to the test by sitting on the table for a good 20 minutes
while playing the PSP (Playstation Portable). Now Matt is a
pretty big guy, about 200 pounds or so (mostly in the belly
lol) and the folding round card table took all that massive
weight without a single wobble!
Impressive isn’t it? About a year ago Matt pulled the same
stun on another round card table (wasn’t a deliberate test by
the way) which was much inferior in quality and the thing
collapse within a minute he sat on it.
So without a shadow of a doubt, this round-shaped foldable
table is heavy-duty. If a table is able to survive the
incredible weight of Crazy Matt’s gigantic buttocks, then it
can survive just about anything.
Now, I know you must be concerned about the weight of the
table being how it’s super durable, capable of supporting up to
300 pounds and all that. Well, you can put that concern away
because the table is not insanely heavy or anything like that.
In fact, the table weighs approximately 30 pounds. Yes, it’s
pretty easy to carry around and easy to fold/unfold. With this
table, I could do all that with ease and like I mentioned
earlier, I’m not a big guy.
Another wonderful thing about this table is the size which
is 48 inches in diameter. Ample of space for you and your
buddies/family to play cards, board games, puzzles, etc on. I
also love how easily the legs fold unlike some other round
folding card tables on the market. You know the kind with
tight, difficult to fold legs. Lousy foldable mechanism!
Fortunately, this baby folds very smoothly.
All in all, this is a top quality product and I really have
nothing negative to say about it except, perhaps I wish it was
available in black as well. At the moment it’s only available
in white color. I’ve always wanted a highly durable black resin
top round card table.
Well, anyway, bottom line: If you’re searching for a
top-of-the-line, aesthetically pleasing, stain proof,
waterproof, scratch and impact resistant round shaped card
table, then grab this one. I’m very sure you won’t regret
it.
Kids Card
Table and Folding Chairs
There are plenty of children card games out there such as
Old Maid, Animal Rummy, Crazy Eights, Wig Out!, etc . Kids love
to play these games with their friends. So if you want them to
play the card games together and have so much fun in the
process, then I would suggest you get a nice, bright colored
kids card table and folding chairs like these.
As you can clearly see in the picture, this is a terrific
looking set and it’s perfect for 2 to 5 year olds. The set
consists of 4 cute-sized chairs and table with bright, cheerful
colors to boot. In terms of appearance, there’s really nothing
to fault here. The set folds easily and best of all, there’s a
child proof mechanism in place to ensure the table and chairs
do not suddenly fold up while the kids are using them.
See, the kids folding card table has a button on it which
you have to press in order to fold the legs. Each chair has
that very same button as well. You have to push the button
first, only then will you able fold and store away the chairs
and table.
I must say, it’s a very useful and downright genius feature!
Very decent durability all around as I highly doubt any 2 to 5
year olds would be able to break the chairs. Heck, my
neighbor’s 7 year old kid Jerry uses one of the chairs recently
and it didn’t break when he sat on it.
Look, this kids card table and folding chairs set can
withstand toddlers weight for sure but teens and adults should
not even try to sit on the chair. I reckon the chair will break
as soon as an adult places his butt on it. Truth be told, I
feel tempted to sit on one of the chairs just to find out how
long it can support my 170 pound frame but I thought the better
of it lol.
Anyway, I give this set a 5 out of 5 score. A real winner
this one.
